LOWESTOFT PROGRAMME NOTES 21st September 2024

Dear Supporter

Games are coming thick and fast now with FA Cup ones being thrown into the mix.  Our last minute escape against Cleethorpes brought absolute delight to the large contingent of Poppies fans who attended last Saturday’s game.  Harsh on the opposition but we’ve all been there over the years.

Today, we welcome Lowestoft Town as we return to league action.  We have not quite reached the heights of the Spalding game again but the old adage “it’s a marathon, not a sprint” rings true for a season that runs from August to April.  There will be disappointments along the way but there will also be highs – the nature of sport and the nature of being a football fan!

Again, many thanks to all those supporters who have added their name to the WORKING TOGETHER boards.  Board No 1 is now full and can be seen on the far side of the ground above the fence near the dug outs.  Board No 2 is filling up – we currently have 69 names across both boards. You can add your name by joining the Poppies Trust. POPPIES TRUST: MEMBERSHIP (ktfctrust30.blogspot.com); membership is £10, adding your name will be a further £10.  Life membership is £100.

Alternatively, scan this QR code.

We are looking to end this initiative at the end of October, so still time to add your name to the board and/or join the Trust.

Current Life members can donate via the same link above. Or visit the Klondike/Programme table in the clubhouse prior to matches. So far this season we have gained 23 new members giving us a total of 35 members in all as well as 36 life members (3 new life members joining this season).

Recently, 4 members of the Trust board met with the Club’s owner, George. It was a chance for us to brief George about the formation of the Trust and what we stand for.  We discussed topics including how we can work together going forward.  We have raised thousands of pounds over the years for many projects both at Rockingham Road and here at Latimer Park.  We have never been a revenue stream for the Club.  We like to raise money for specific projects that benefit the Club and, importantly, the fans.  We are in discussion with George as to where we can help in this regard and put forward some of our own ideas.

Our biggest fundraising project was the money raised for the extension of the Tin Hat here at Latimer Park.  Many of you may remember that as part of that fundraising campaign, we got all 891 FA cup goals sponsored by our supporters; we are now up to 915 goals. Once this season’s run is done, we will relaunch this for the outstanding goals, 24 so far and hopefully counting. The display boards showing all the goals, and their sponsors will be updated and put back on display inside the ground.

Many thanks for all your support.

STAMFORD PROGRAMME NOTES 24th September 2024

Dear Supporter

The annual charity event for the Dylan Cecil Charity took place last Sunday.  Most Poppies fans are familiar with this charity following the tragic loss of Dylan in 2012.  The charity was set up to provide holidays to people/families that have endured tough times be it financially, health reasons etc.  Full information about the charity can be found at dylancecilmemorialfund.co.uk.  The Trust has been a regular contributor to the fund by holding race nights and donating 50% of the funds raised to the charity.  We have not had a race night for a while and are looking to hold one in the New Year.  In the meantime, we have made a small donation of £150 towards the fund.  We all felt the pain of this loss back in 2012 and although life goes on, Dylan’s family still have to deal with that pain and the impact of this tragedy.

The Club has launched an easyfundraising scheme.  This is an easy way to help raise money for the Club.  As you know, the Trust has its own easyfundraising account which we have had for several years now.  We have 50 people using the account and have raised £1215 to date.

All you need to do is go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ketteringtownpoppiessupporterstrust and join for free.  Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.  After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to the Trust for no extra cost whatsoever!  It will work the same for the Club and those details can be found on the Club’s media outlets.  No matter which page you go to, ultimately the money raised will go to the Club in some way or another.

The WORKING TOGETHER boards continue to fill up.  Board No 1 is now full and can be seen on the far side of the ground above the fence near the dug outs.  Board No 2 is filling up too.   You can add your name by joining the Poppies Trust. POPPIES TRUST: MEMBERSHIP (ktfctrust30.blogspot.com); membership is £10, adding your name will be a further £10.  Life membership is £100.

CLEETHORPES PROGRAMME NOTES 14th September 2024

Many thanks to all those supporters who have added their name to the WORKING TOGETHER boards. Board No1 is now full and can be seen on the far side, above the fence near the dug outs. Board No 2 is now around 30% complete. You can add your name by joining the Poppies Trust. POPPIES TRUST: MEMBERSHIP (ktfctrust30.blogspot.com) membership is £10, adding your name will be a further £10. Life membership will cost £100. Alternatively, scan this QR code.

Current Life members can donate via the same link above. Or visit the Klondike/Programme table in the clubhouse prior to matches. So far this season we have gained 22 new members with 12 renewals to date.

Once again, the Poppies Trust have sponsored two players shirts. This season we have goalkeeper Dan Jezeph’s home shirt and Dan Jarvis’s away shirt. All trust members names will go into the hat with the winner drawn out at the end of the season. Paul Evans and John Cecil won last season’s shirts, drawn out of the hat by the club’s new owner George.

A group from the Trust board have met with the club’s new owner George. We discussed topics including how we can work together going forward. We also discussed the circumstances of the Kettering Town ‘Poppies’ Supporters Trust was formed 32 years ago. Of course, we would much prefer not to be useful only in a crisis or merely as a ‘cash cow’ as and when the club have a dodgy cash flow. We would very much prefer to undertake fundraising for specific projects that benefit our supporters. i.e. the TINHAT FUND several seasons back, the defibrillator, etc.

Many of you may remember that as part of the Poppies Trust’s Tinhat extension fundraising campaign referenced above. We got all 891 FA cup goals sponsored by our supporters; we are now up to 914 goals. Once this season’s run is done, hopefully not today, we will relaunch this for the outstanding goals, 23 so far and hopefully counting. The display boards showing all the goals, and their sponsors will be updated and put back on display inside the ground. We look forward to further discussions in the very near future.

The Trust are saddened to hear the news that loyal Poppies supporter Barry Medlock has lost his long battle against illness. Barry was always there to help when needed, he will be sorely missed. Our condolences to Barry’s family and friends. RIP Barry.

SPALDING UTD PROGRAMME NOTES 13th August 2024

Dear Supporter

This time last year we were discussing the handing over of the Club by Ritchie to whoever was available to run it at the time.  Thankfully, a whole raft of people stood up to be counted and did a fantastic job.  Lee Glover also left so a new manager was installed.  I think we are all agreed that last season was not the most inspiring one in recent years but we maintained our spot in Southern League Central and we go again this season.

A year later we have new owners so it has been all go again!  Welcome to George, Nadiya, Fabian and Naheed.  The takeover has certainly given the Club a lift and there is a feeling of optimism around the Latimer Park.  The Trust has touched based with the new owners and hope to move forward to discuss some fundraising projects we can lead on to benefit the fans.

The Trust has documented, on more than one occasion, its thanks to Ritchie and all the hard work he put in over the years since taking ownership of the Poppies back in the dark days of Irthlingborough.  Good luck for the future Ritchie and we know we will see you at Latimer Park as a fan.

It’s that time of the year when the Trust are once again trying to encourage all Poppies Supporters to renew their Trust membership or join up for the first time.

This season we are giving fans the opportunity to show their support by ALL WORKING TOWARDS THE SAME GOAL.  Along with the annual membership subscription of £10 for adults, £100 lifetime membership (juniors free) you can, for an additional £10, have your name on an advertising board inside Latimer Park.  The Trust will pay the going rate for the advertising board.  You can find full information and sign up on our new website at https://ktfctrust30.blogspot.com/p/membership.html.  Martin Bellamy will be in his usual spot in the Social Club pre-match to take your money as well!

The Trust has sponsored the home shirt of Dan Jezeph and the away shirt of Dan Jarvis for this coming season.  As always, we will do a members draw at the end of the season for two lucky winners to take ownership of said shirts.

Thanks, always, for your continued support.

Tonight we welcome one of the new boys in this League to Latimer Park, Spalding United.  Some ex-Poppies involved with the Tulips including their manager Elliott Sandy.  Let’s get off to a good start and build on that pre-season feel good aura around the Club.
