AFC TELFORD PROGRAMME NOTES

The Club is doing some renovation work in and around the Clubhouse in the coming weeks.  The Trust has recently donated £2,500 to the Club towards the renovation, specifically the toilets.  As you know, the Trust likes to donate money towards projects which benefit the fans.  We felt this was one of those scenarios as per our aims and objectives:

❖     To strengthen the bonds between Kettering Town Football Club and the community and to represent the interests of the community in the running of the Club

❖     To encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions

❖     To encourage and promote the principle of supporter representation on the Board of the Club and ultimately to be the vehicle for democratic elections to the Board

❖     To raise money and donate in such a way to promote the aims and objectives of the Trust and to the benefit of the local community and the supporters of the Club.

❖     To benefit present and future members of the community served by the Club by promoting, encouraging and furthering the game of football as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement.

❖     To maximise the potential, future success and stability of Kettering Town Football Club.

Our current fundraiser is the FA CUP GOALS SPONSORS DRAW and it is being drawn today so if you have bought a ticket, good luck!  Thank you to everyone for buying a ticket(s).

We will be holding a Race Night for the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund – 50% split between the Fund and the Trust – on Friday 11 April 2025.  Please buy a horse or jockey or sponsor a race for this very worthwhile cause.  The Fund sends families, who struggle financially, on holiday to Burnham-on-Sea.  Come along on the night if you can – ticket includes sausage and

chips – and have a fun evening and possibly win some money!

One of our long-standing background fund-raisers has been Easyfundraising  - we have raised over £1100 over the several years we have been running this scheme.  It is so easy to use and there is no cost to you as the shopper.  Just go to easyfundraising.org.uk and set up an account, choose your cause (the Trust!) and shop away.  You can also download the app if you are of that persuasion – unsure what to do, then speak to a Trust Board member.  Thank you to everyone who has been shopping this way and raising funds for the Trust.

We would like to welcome two new Trust Board members – Bill Welland and Chris Bright.  Bill approached the Trust to see if he and Chris could be of any help to us and we bit his hand off!  It is great to have them on Board and they have plenty of fund-raising ideas (and enthusiasm) so keep an eye out for details of these going forward.

On the other side of the coin, Lewis Horne has stepped down from the Board – many thanks to Lewis for his input over the years – it has been much appreciated.

We welcome our old foes AFC Telford to Latimer Park – appreciate that AFC are the reincarnation of what was Telford Utd but the history between our two clubs is still there.  A lot has been said over the last few months, both on the terraces and on social media, about our inconsistent form etc so no point in repeating it here.  Richard Lavery and the players know what needs to be done so let’s just get on with it!

ST IVES PROGRAMME NOTES 8th MARCH 2025

 Dear Supporter

The Club is doing some renovation work in and around the Clubhouse in the coming weeks. The Trust recently donated £2,500 to the Club towards the renovation, specifically the toilets. As you know, the Trust likes to donate money towards projects which benefit the fans. We felt this was one of those scenarios as per our aims and objectives:

❖ To encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions

❖ To benefit present and future members of the community served by the Club by promoting, encouraging and furthering the game of football as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement.

❖ To maximise the potential, future success and stability of Kettering Town Football Club.

Our current fundraiser is the FA CUP GOALS SPONSORS DRAW. It costs £2.00 for each draw number. The first number drawn out – the winner will choose which goal they wish to sponsor from the top 4 goals; second to select from the remaining top 4; third then fourth. From the fifth number drawn out onwards, the goals will be sponsored in chronological order. The draw to be made on 22 March 2025. We have sold 102 tickets so far. You can purchase your ticket at https://ktfctrust30.blogspot.com/2025/01/cup-goals-sponsors-draw.html or on matchdays in the clubhouse.

We will be holding a Race Night for the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund – 50% split between the Fund and the Trust – on Friday 11 April 2025. Race sheets will be coming out shortly with full details of ticket prices etc.

This calendar membership year we have 100 members (37 of which are life members) and we thank you all for joining. Of course, events run and money donated are not just for Trust members but for all Poppies fans. Supporters’ organisations come and go so we are proud that the Trust has been round for 32 years – coming into its 33rd year to be precise! Long

may it continue but it does need volunteers to keep it ticking over. We have had some interest from 3-4 people looking to join the Trust Board – we will be dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s very soon.

We are also looking for an archivist or two or three (!) to help sort our memorabilia collection which is currently housed in the Newland Centre. If anyone is interested, please contact us.

The Trust has also donated £200 to the KTFC Supporters Travel Club trip to Lowestoft on

15 March 2025 – this is the longest trip for the Poppies. The Travel Club run buses to most away games. The bus for this trip is leaving early to give everyone a couple of hours in Lowestoft to have lunch/walk on the beach/have a dip in the sea! So why not join them for a day out and let the coach drive take the strain. There will also be a raffle to help raise funds for them with, we are sure, lots of nice prizes to be won.

ALVECHURCH PROGRAMME NOTES 11th JANUARY/4th MARCH 2025

Dear Supporter

A belated Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.  Our game, last week, would have seen us take on Halesowen (1st versus 4th) but we fell victim to the cold/frosty weather.  A real shame as a big crowd would have been expected.  Despite that, a lot of football has been played over Christmas and New Year with a mixed bag of results.  We gained a hard fought point away to Spalding just before Christmas.  The football was not pretty – the only pretty sight was the Winter sunset - but we went toe to toe with their robust footballing style and came away with the point.  We followed up that result with 3 points at home to Biggleswade, 1 point away to Stratford and that disappointing loss away to Harborough Town.  Luckily, the teams around us dropped points as well but we don’t want to have to rely on other teams losing unless we are winning!  Today we welcome Alvechurch to Latimer Park.  We need to get back on the winning track – let’s hope today is the starting point.

The Trust would like to wish Dan Jarvis all the best – we sponsored his kit for this season.  A shame to see him go but we wish him all the best.  Our sponsorship will be transferred to another player.

We will be selling/raffling off the remaining FA Cup goals – this initiative will be launched at the end of January and a new board will erected in the ground showing fans names against the goals sold.  Details will be announced later this month.

Other fundraising initiatives in the pipeline include:

·       300 Club draw

·       Race Night for the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund

We want to build up our bank balance so we can assist the Club with some of their smaller projects.  We touch base with George from time to time and will be having a catch up with him to see what those projects might be.  As you know, the Trust’s remit is to donate funds which will benefit the fans and the Club.

This calendar membership year we have 100 members (37 of which are life members) and we thank you all for joining.  Of course, events run and money donated are not just for Trust members but for all Poppies fans.  Supporters organisations come and go so we are proud that the Trust has been round for 32 years!  Long may it continue but it does take a small band of people to keep it ticking over.  If you feel that you can bring something to the Trust Board then please contact us – we would love to hear from you.

Finally, we were sad to learn of the death of long-time Trust member – Steve Gordon, 68, passed away between Christmas and New Year.  Steve, who lived in Bedford with his wife Sue, was taken ill and admitted to hospital.  Unfortunately, he did not respond to treatment.  He, along with his brother Pete, have been members of the Poppies Trust for most of its existence; indeed Steve’s membership number was TM001. The Poppies Trust sends its condolences to the Gordon family and friends.  RIP Steve.
